Image registration for P-band UWB SAR interferometry

Abstract
- Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image registration is of fundamental importance for SAR interferometry (InSAR). In this paper, we investigate and propose an algorithm for P-band ultra-wideband (UWB) InSAR. By using a common ground reference plane when focusing the SAR images by the back-projection (BP) algorithm, a geometrical registration is performed simultaneously. Then the residual shifts corresponding to the topography are estimated by cross-correlation and interpolation operations. The accuracy of registration is evaluated by calculating the errors from the misregistration phases. Results with a P-band UWB InSAR system are shown to prove the validity of the proposed method.
