Abstract
- Rare-earth intermetallic systems are of considerable interest with respect to their fascinating properties due to localized 4f electrons or mixed valency. Therefore, we deposited thin Ce films on Pt(111) at room temperature and annealed it to 900 K thus forming a well-ordered Ce–Pt surface alloy. Using angle-resolved photoemission Fermi surfaces have been mapped for the Pt(111)–(2×2)Ce alloy and the clean Pt(111). We observe both strong deviations and striking similarities.
