Generation IV

The Generation IV program history, evolution, and status in the United States are surveyed, focusing on reactor designs, power units, and related conceptual developments for nuclear power technologies. The broad range of system aspects of the Generation IV program specific to the US energy industry are discussed. The potential role for emerging Generation IV systems is evaluated accounting for their ability to provide electricity and process heat products as well as to serve as one of the potential waste management solutions. Electrical grid integration and options for the US market penetration are included.
