Abstract

The internet of things (IoT) is an emerging technology, as it provides great opportunity for the people to use smart application(s). This technology uses different protocols to connect various devices and carry out exchange of data. These protocols are susceptible to attacks. The difference proactive approaches adopted for offering security against possible attacks o IoT applications. “Threat Model” is one of the measures used for defensive security. This paper mainly focuses on “Threat Modelling for Smart Light Bulb”. With a case study of one of the commercial Smart Bulb, we explained the major attack vectors of Smart Bulb with the help of Attack Tree (AT), one of the techniques of Threat Modelling. The attack tree explains the hack steps of each possible attack on Smart Bulb. The main aim of this paper is to present, how an attacker can compromise Smart Light Bulb, along with possible threats identified for Protocols such as CoAP, Zigbee and DTLS.
