Abstract
- We aim to investigate how filtering emotional faces by low and high spatial frequency modulates neural processing as measured by neuroimaging techniques (EEG , sEEG, iEEG, MEG, and fMRI) in adult populations. We distinguish between experimental manipulations where participants had either EEG , sEEG, iEEG, MEG, and fMRI data recorded while they viewed faces that 1. Are filtered to display low and high spatial frequency information, and optionally unfiltered faces, 2. Displayed neutral faces and at least one emotion category (i.e. happy, fearful, sad, etc.), 3. Presented centrally or bilaterally. For EEG, sEEG, iEEG, and MEG studies, we aimed to investigate face-locked studies and assess time windows and topographical locations where emotional face processing is altered by SF filtering. For EEG studies we will investigate ERPs. For fMRI studies, we aimed to investigate functional ROIs where emotional face processing is altered by SF filtering.
