Service Restoration with Active Cold Load Pick-Up Management

Abstract

A methodology for service restoration (SR) with an active management of cold load pick-up (CLPU) is developed in this paper. The proposed approach leverages remote control capabilities of most advanced metering infrastructure already deployed and seeks to limit feeder overloading by managing post-outage customer re-connections. Re-connection schedules for feeder customers are calculated through the solution of a mixed- integer linear programming (MILP) problem. Results of the proposed algorithm are compared against full feeder restoration.
