Abstract

We studied the kinetics of the alkaline and neutral aqueous hydrolysis of the ethyl ester of bis(chloromethyl) thiophosphinic acid. Replacement of the P=O group by P=S in ethylbis(chloromethyl)phosphinite increases the rate of the reaction with water and reduces that of the reaction with the OH− ion.
