Abstract

In the future cellular systems based on heterogeneous networks (HetNets), the application of line-of-sight (LOS)-multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) to backhaul or fronthaul between a macro cell and small cells is promising from the viewpoint of low-cost deployment. For this purpose, this paper presents the bit error rate (BER) performance of single-carrier 2 ×2 LOS-MIMO using frequency domain equalization (FDE) in the 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) tapped delay line (TDL) channel models. Computer simulation results show the effectiveness of LOS-MIMO using FDE in the 3GPP TDL based LOS channel models.
