Abstract

3730 Background: Non-polypotic familiar colon cancer (HNPCC) is an autosomical dominant transmitted syndrome with high aggregation of colorectal cancer (CRC), frequently associated with other solid tumors. Few studies have investigated the frequency of HNPCC in patients (pts.) having undergone surgery for CRC. These have shown a marked geographic variation, ranging from 0.5% to 13%. The aim of this study is to estimate the frequency of HNPCC in the Uruguayan population. Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis of a cohort of non-selected pts. operated for CRC in the Hospital Central de las Fuerzas Armadas (Montevideo, Uruguay) between January 1987 and December 2002.
