Abstract
- Jumper’s knee is a disorder characterised by chronic overload of the patellar tendon and its points of insertion into the bone. Victims of this disease are usually active in sports in which the extensor mechanism of the knee is repeatedly activated. Jumping is not the only cause of the disorder, for runners, football players and skiers are also often affected. This disorder is known in international terminology by its English name, “jumper’s knee”. In 1973, Blazina proposed a symptomatic classification which has been adopted by most authors, some of whom added modifications [1, 4]. Some of the radiological signs accompanying this disorder have also been described, but as they vary, they are not very pathognomonic.
