Abstract

He(I) photoelectron spectra (PES) and photoabsorption cross sections were measured for Ga(CH 3 ) 3 and In(CH 3 ) 3 in the 106–270 nm range. For both compounds, absorption starts at around 260 nm. Using the binding energies determined from the PES data, the broad absorption bands observed for the trimethylmetals are assigned as n s-terminating Rydberg transitions of the outer orbital electrons.
