Saturation effect modulation in microwave spectroscopy

Modulation of the saturation parameter γ2 may be used for a modulation of absorption coefficients α(ω) of molecular absorption lines instead of Stark modulation. The paper describes theory and design of a simple mw-spectrometer which makes use of this saturation effect modulation technique. The spectrometer has been successfully tested in high temperature work. Promising applications to other fields of mw-spectroscopy are discussed.
