Abstract

Ochetobius elongatus (Cyprinidae, Leuciscinae) was once an endemic species and widely distributed in numbers of rivers throughout South China. Nevertheless, the wild population of O. elongatus reduced dramatically in recent years due to anthropogenic impacts and it has been listed as a critically endangered species by IUCN. In this study, 26 novel single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers were developed based on Restriction-site associated DNA sequencing. The results showed that the minor allele frequency varied from 0.071 to 0.500, the observed heterozygosity and expected heterozygosity ranged from 0.093 to 0.964 and 0.133 to 0.505, respectively.
