Trend of major earthquakes during the period 1900–2011 and its association with some solar and geomagnetic parameters

The paper presents long term trend of major earthquake (magnitude ≥6 Richter scale) occurrence throughout world. Analysis shows that occurrence trend decreases during the period 1900–1962, afterwards the trend increases. Solar coronal index, geomagnetic disturbance indices (Kp, Ap index) follow the opposite trend during the above mentioned period. Possible explanation is presented.
