A New, Validated Method for the Destruction of Conventional Viruses and Unconventional Infectious Agents (e.g. BSE and Scrapie)’ in Proteins and Sera

A process has been developed for the production of albumins which has been shown to inactivate all tested conventional viruses as well as unconventional infectious agents (“prions” causing diseases like scrapie and BSE (bovine spongiphorme encephalopathie)) (1, 2). BSA produced according to this process has been tested in tissue culture and is shown to be of at least equivalent quality as compared to other TC-grade BSA.
