Abstract
- The augmented plane wave (APW) method is used for theoretical study of the electronic structure of europium monoxide under hydorstatic pressure. A magnetic state of europium ion at the atmospheric pressure is analysed by comparison of theoretical magnetic form-factor with the experimental one of Cable et al. The energy gap between the filled majority spin f-states and the bottom of the conduction band is found to be closed at the pressure 140 kbar in good agreement with recent experiments of Zimmer et al.
