Abstract

In order to study the internal damage of the measured continuous casting shell, locate the internal defect position of the continuous casting shell and judge the defect size, this paper selects the continuous casting billet after the secondary cooling zone for defect detection, at this time, the thickness of the continuous casting shell is about 30mm. Using the finite element simulation software COMSOL, a multiphysical model of the electromagnetic ultrasonic transducer (EMAT) composed of a cylindrical permanent magnet and two spiral coils is established. In the model, the rectangle is used instead of the crack in the shell. The propagation of ultrasonic S-wave in the defects of 5mm*1mm and 10mm*1mm is studied, and the image is generated by MATLAB software. The results show that the EMAT shear wave can locate the position and image the size in the object defects.
