The statistical basis for forecasting individual pharmacokinetics

To accurately forecast, or predict the pharmacokinetics of a drug in an individual patient implies that one can accurately forecast the plasma drug concentration (PDC) time course that one will see in response to an arbitrary dosage regimen. Why might one wish to do this? The reasons concern clinical management of patients as well as research.
