ChemInform Abstract: Isolation of Azomethine Ylides and Their Complexes: Iridium(III)-Mediated Cyclization of Nitrone Substrates Containing Alkynes

Internal redox cyclizations of nitrone-functionalized terminal alkynes (I) are mediated by simple iridium complexes to give the cyclized azomethine ylides (II), which undergo [3+2] dipolar cycloaddition reactions with several alkynes and alkenes.
