Abstract
- Fishery products represent one alternative to improve nutrition levels for low-income consumers. Governments and aid organizations in Less Developed Countries often attempt to help low-income consumers and simultaneously to improve fishery marketing operations. Increased market stability beneficial to sellers and/or high-income consumers of fishery products may have serious distributional consequences in an equity context which completely eliminate low-income consumers from purchasing products. Aquacultural alternatives are discussed as means to satisfy low-income demands and raise incomes of sellers of fishery products.
