Azione Inibente di Alcune Tiopirimidine Sulla Crescita dei Tumori da Trapianto

The action of two pyrimidine analogs, 2-thio-cytosine and 2-thio-5-methyl-cytosine has been studied on Ehrlich adenocarcinoma, sarcoma 180 and Walker carcinosarcoma. The different action induced by these substances on the tumour growth is pointed out. Particular consideration is given to the different response of the tumours to 2-thio-5-methyl-cytosine and the behaviour of its inhibiting action during experiments is pointed out. Some hypotheses on the mechanism of action of these compounds are advanced, basing upon the different responses given to the same substances by microbiologic systems and by fibroblasts cultures from chick embryos.
