Abstract: The results of studies of a complex chemical reaction of ozone with chloride ions in aqueous solution, in crystalline salts, and in aerosol are generalized and systematized; its kinetics and mechanism are discussed. The role of the reaction in various industries, in particular, in water treatment, and in natural processes is considered.
