Abstract
- This comparative environmental LCA analyzes the impact of various note-taking methods: a paper notebook, an Apple iPad, and a reMarkable tablet. Inventory data was predominantly populated from databases and prior studies. The TRACI methodology was adopted while ReCiPe methodology provided supporting verification. Results showed that the paper notebook outperformed the tablets in most impact categories. Tablets produced more health-related impacts and ecotoxicity while the notebook produced more land-related impacts and ozone depletion. The environmental impacts of the paper notebook were sensitive to page quantity while both tablets were sensitive to circuit board mass, usage allocation, and electricity emission factors.
