Abstract
- This paper aims to study the heart rate monitoring using Photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor. No additional hardware such as accelerometers has been used in our algorithm. The heart rate has a fundamental and harmonic structure. The cepstrum-based is useful for detecting harmonics. This paper proposes a signal approach based on the cepstrum analysis to enhance the periodic spectral components. The algorithm could effectively improve the quality of the PPG signals. The cepstrum-based method is helpful for distinguishing motion artifacts from PPG signal. The effectiveness of the fundamental and harmonic frequency enhancement in real time is experimentally demonstrated. The experiment results show that the heart rate estimation error can be reduced significantly.
