Abstract
- 1. On the basis of an investigation into the kinetics of infiltration of porous titanium by liquid magnesium and magnesium alloys it has been established that the infiltration rate constant grows with increase in pore size at any given porosity and with rise in total porosity of specimens being infiltrated. The rate of infiltration is virtually independent of temperature, within the range investigated, and of magnesium alloy composition. 2. The results obtained lead to the conclusion that the kinetics of infiltration of porous titanium by magnesium obeys the basic laws of the theory of capillary infiltration.
