Abstract: Observations of channel erosion, flow, and sediment transport for the Rio Puerco, in New Mexico, indicate that the characteristics of the channel and of the channel material change rapidly because of deposition and erosion, and that the ephemeral flows carry extremely high concentrations of suspended sediment that influence flow and transport characteristics.
