Abstract
- This paper, a follow-up to previous research, examines how a complex and coupled constitutive model for the alkali-aggregate reaction (AAR) in concrete can be used for the long-term (until reaction exhaustion) prediction of an AAR-affected concrete structure. The procedure presented in this paper accounts for thermal and load time fluctuations. Through a series of parametric studies, sensitivity analyses also are performed, and basic modeling questions are addressed. The viability of the methodology was illustrated through the analysis of two dams and a reinforced concrete structure.
