Abstract

With the deep interaction of power and natural gas systems, the security-constrained optimal power and gas flow (SCOPGF) is pivotal to ensure a safe operation of the integrated electricity and natural gas system (IEGS). Considering that post-contingency corrective control actions will make the final operation point obtained from SCOPGF more robust to potential contingencies, this paper studies the effectiveness of distributed energy storage (DES) on the IEGS short-term ( 15min) corrective actions for N-1 contingencies. Considering the gas storage effects of gas pipeline, linepack is modeled for long-term corrective actions. A greedy algorithm is proposed to handle the numerous N-1 contingency computation disasters. Test results demonstrate that the dispatching of DES can alleviate the energy transmission congestion during the emergency periods and reduce operating costs of the system.
