Increased Tumor Necrosis Factor-?? Serum Levels in Patients with HIV Wasting Syndrome and Euthyroid Sick Syndrome

This letter criticizes the study of Belec et al. on thyroid dysfunction in HIV infected patients. The author points out that the study suggests that tumor necrosis factor-mediated thyroid dysfunction may be the result of wasting but not its etiology.
