Abstract
- This paper analyzes the enhancement in sensitivity of the proposed surface plasmon resonance biosensor on using metamaterial for the detection of biomolecules. Angular Interrogation has been used for plotting the reflectance curve. Here, the sensitivity of proposed metamaterial based SPR biosensor is compared with conventional SPR biosensor. Significant improvement in sensitivity of proposed surface plasmon resonance biosensor is observed due to strong localization and enhancement of the electromagnetic field by using metamaterial. This paper also compares the performance of proposed metamaterial based sensor for three different adlayers like poly(trifloroethyl methacrylate), toluene and nicotine for biosensing.
