Abstract

The transmission spectra of CdS platelets are studied at room temperature with a time-resolved pump-probe technique. These measurements are also performed during the switching between the two transmission levels of the bistable crystal induced by the pump pulse. In this case, the third beam from a cw argon laser holds the sample around the switching threshold. These spectral and temporally resolved experiments allow the analysis of the switching dynamics of such absorptive bistable devices. Les spectres de transmission de plaquettes de CdS sont etudies a temperature ambiante par une technique de pompe et sonde avec resolution temporelle. Ces mesures ont ete effectuees durant la commutation, induite par l'impulsion de pompe, entre les deux niveaux de transmission du bistable. Dans ce cas, le faisceau d'un laser a argon continu maintient le cristal pres du seuil de commutation. Ces experiences spectrales et resolues en temps permettent d'analyser la dynamique de commutation dans ces dispositifs bistables absorptifs.
