Abstract

Politics and Society being added to the second-level curriculum has introduced sociology for the first time to schools, doing something to catch up with the situation in Northern Ireland where sociology is an A-Level subject. In teacher education only those with a teaching qualification can deliver sociology modules, and not for instance a person with a PhD in sociology of education.
