Functional Status, Morbidity and Mortality in Cemented Versus Uncemented Hemiarthroplasty: A Prospective Randomized Trial - Preliminary Results

In a prospective randomized study, 128 patients older than 55 years of age with a non-pathologic displaced femoral neck were followed for one-year. Evaluations were completed at 30 days, 60 days and one-year. The participants were 76.6% women, 93% Caucasian, had an average age of 82.3 years (range 55-100, std. dev. 8.4) and an average BMI of 23.8 (15.9 – 37.6, 4.2). At admission, 78% of patients lived at home.
