Abstract
- The cancer is a public health problem responsible for causing high mortality rates in the world population. It results from the multiplication and abnormal growth of cells in different organs and tissues and is associated with different degrees of malnutrition.The use of specific instruments in order to assess the nutritional risk in cancer patients is an early way to identify nutritional status and prevent worsening of prognosis and worsening of the disease, can contribute to dietary interventions that provide maintenance/recovery of nutritional reserves and improving the quality of life. The present study aimed to verify the association between NUTRISCORE and Patient-Produced Global Subjective Evaluation (ASG-PPP) nutritional risk screening in outpatient cancer patients. It is a cross-sectional study conducted with cancer patients, adults and seniors of both sexes treated at the oncology clinic of the Hospital Barao de Lucena- Recife-PE. It was obtained the data related to the variables on demographic, socioeconomic, lifestyle, clinical and anthropometric. The nutritional status was evaluated through ASG-PPP and NUTRICOSCORE, and the association between the two screening instruments was verified.
