Abstract

In LIAISON Work Package 4, 32 projects, networks or initiatives with co-creative and innovative characteristics were explored using ‘qualitative research’ methods such as in-depth interviews and focus groups. These methods helped to collect different opinions and experiences of people who were involved in the cases and they helped to understand how certain processes work and what aspects influence these processes. Therefore 30 European and 2 non-European cases were selected out of a pre-selection of 200 innovative cases using specific criteria to include the most insightful cases and to keep a balance in geographical distribution (in Europe), in funding sources (European funded, nationally funded, privately funded and even non funded), in sectors (agriculture, forestry and rural areas), in types of innovation, in amount of people participating directly and in types of cases (a project, a network, an initiative).
