Abstract: Azole and azine heteroarenes were directly alkylated by alkanes, ethers, or carbamates using PhC(O)O2tBu under LED irradiation. 9,10-Dichloroanthrocene acted as an organic photocatalyst and transferred its excitation energy to PhC(O)O2tBu via exciplex formation.
