Abstract
- The new chelating ditertiary phosphine (pptpf) forms low spin, diamagnetic, square-planar complexes of the type [M(pptpf)X2] (where M=Ni(II), Pd(II) or Pt(II); X=Cl, Br, I or NCS) when treated with corresponding metal salts. Group VI metal hexacarbonyls also react with the ligand (pptpf) to yield diamagnetic, octahedral complexes of type [M(CO)4(pptpf)] (where M=Cr, Mo or W). These complexes have been characterised on the basis of their elemental analysis, 1H n.m.r., electronic, infrared spectral measurements, electrical conductance and magnetic susceptibilities data. In all the complexes the ligand (pptpf) acts as a chelating ditertiary phosphine.
