Abstract
- The synthesis of a novel paramagnetic complex, (LMoO)2EA (where L = hydrotris(3,5-dimethyl-l-pyrazolyl)borate and EA = the tetra anion of 2,3,7,8-tetrahydroxy[1]benzopyrano[5,4,3-cde][1]benzopyran-5,10-dione, ellagic acid), containing two oxomolybdenum(V) ( S = 1 2 ) centers is described. The rigidity of the ellagic acid enforces co-planarity in the Mo2EA fragment which results in weak to moderate inter-metal interaction. The room temperature CW EPR spectrum of (LMoO)2EA shows an unusual hyperfine pattern due to the electronic spin coupling between the two S = 1 2 centers. The CV and DPV show two one-electron reductions separated by 97 mV.
