Abstract
- This paper evaluates the parameter sensitivity of deadbeat flux vector control for six-step operation of permanent magnet synchronous machines. The flux-based torque control law is speed-dependent, causing an increased parameter sensitivity at the lower-speed range of the field-weakening region. This paper uses a linear operating point model to analyze and compare different torque control laws for six-step operation. However, while insightful, these linear modeling techniques break down for torque components near the fundamental electrical frequency when the six-step operation’s nonlinearities start to dominate. The paper explains the different effects that can be seen in a six-step frequency response function. With this understanding, machines can be selected and build to have a more robust performance in six-step operation.
