Abstract
- Over the last twenty years polyurethane elastomers, and particularly their microcellular versions of mostly linear polymers, have proven to represent a very versatile and effective group of materials for the manufacturing of footwear soling. Two basic families of products established their presence in the marketplace: the polyether polyol and the polyester polyol-based systems. The differences in chemical composition, handling procedures, processing and mainly in polymer performance between these two classes of materials created an additional option for the manufacturers and the stylists, enlarging even more the wide range of the application latitude of polyurethanes and allowing a much more targeted selection of the materials to be used
