Abstract

Archaeological monitoring's were undertaken by AOC Archaeology Group on the 14th-15th March 2018 and on the 2nd-3rd June 2018 during refurbishment works of an overhead power line which runs between Yeovil and Axminster (AD Line- ST 57672 16876 and SY 35306 99240; Figure 1). The archaeological watching brief consisted of monitoring two areas of undergrounding associated with the refurbishment of total of 114 towers. The archaeological watching brief included monitoring of the intrusive works associated with under cabling near the towers known as AD_12 and AD_14. No archaeological remains were identified during the works. Due to the lack of significant archaeological deposits encountered, it is recommended that no further archaeological fieldwork be undertaken. The results of the watching brief will be summarised and published via the Archaeological Data Service (ADS) website.
