Surface morphology study of Zr-based amorphous alloys after immersion in boiling nitric acid medium

Weight loss studies have been performed to determine the corrosion resistance of amorphous Zr60 Nb 2 Al 10 Ni 8Cu20 and Zr59 Nb 3 Al 10 Ni 8Cu20 alloys in aqueous HNO3 media at boiling temperature. The FESEM micrographs has been obtained to know the surface morphology of specimens after immersion in 11.5M boiling aqueous HNO3 media. Zr59 Nb 3 Al 10 Ni 8Cu20 alloy shows better corrosion resistance in nitric acid media than Zr60 Nb 2 Al 10 Ni 8Cu20 alloy.
