Mandshunosides C–E from the roots and rhizomes of Clematis mandshurica

Three new triterpene saponins, mandshunosides C–E ( 1 – 3 ) together with four known triterpene saponins ( 4 – 7 ) were isolated from the roots and rhizomes of Clematis mandshurica . Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic evidence and hydrolysis products. Those compounds showed inhibitory activities against two human colorectal cancer cell lines HCT-116 and HT-29.
