Pregnancy was marked by a bout of fever and malaise lasting for about 3 weeks when the mother was about 3 months pregnant. The child had low birth weight of 1.6 kg and had failure to thrive. At about a month he was noted to have mild jaundice, hepatosplenomegaly. HBsAg and ultrasonography were normal.
