Abstract

This paper clarifies the characteristics of the metamorphosis/customization/ extension of row-type housing. The metamorphosis position as well as physical characteristics of the row-type housing facade, as well as material utilization have also been clarified. Utilizing the graphic recording techniques integrated with discussions have helped to brainstorm the ideas and found the contributed gaps. The results showed that the metamorphosis has a positive solution of this housing style. Space for Creating Income (SCI) has played an imperative role since the first of occupation period of the users. Tools to gain SCI found to be self-extension and self-customization. The direction of the metamorphosis majorly be the first storey of the building, continuously to the interior space of the first floor. Materials utilization found to be semi-permanent and permanent material. Users are able to gain income by using their row-house. Apart from functioning as a residing purpose, row-type housing can also support to generate income for its users. Therefore, SCI is essential and should be a significant outlook for sustainable housing enhancement.
