Abstract

The advantages of a standard condensed graphic method of expressing the results of the examination of well samples are here considered. A tentative scheme for this purpose is here proposed. This scheme is probably unnecessarily detailed for use in oil fields which have been long developed and in which formation contacts are clearly defined. Its special value seems to lie in the preparation of well logs from wildcat areas, or from areas in which sub-divisions of well known formations are contemplated. The scheme here given is tentative and the article is written less with the idea of establishing a rigid system than of stimulating an exchange of ideas on a very important subject that has not received much publicity.
