Assessing the gene expression of interleukin-36 in Alzheimer's patients

We studied the balance between gene expression of the IL-36α, IL-36β, IL-36γ as IL-36 receptor agonists and IL-36 receptor antagonist (IL-36Ra) as well as evaluation of diagnostic potentiality of mentioned IL-36 receptor agonists, recurrently proposed in the literature as inflammatory mediators, in whole blood of 30 patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) based on diagnostic criteria for AD (National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke-Alzheimer's disease and Related Disorders Association), as well as 30 healthy individuals. Nevertheless, we cannot confirm the diagnostic worth of these candidate biomarkers.
