DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE TJ-II VACUUM VESSEL

The vacuum vessel (VV) is one of the most critical components of the TJ-II1. The VV is designed to provide the maximum reasonable volume inside the toroidal field (TF) coils. Furthermore the hard core (CC/HX) coil2, which is the other critical component of this machine, remains outside the VV in order to facilitate assembly, accessibility and maintenance.
