Abstract

This paper describes two research projects conducted by the author under the auspices of NASA/ASEE Summer Faculty Fellowship Program, The challenge in both of the projects was to replace traditional control by elements of intelligent control in systems used by NASA. While the focus of the paper is on the NASA/ASEE Summer Faculty Fellowship Program as a University-Industry Joint Program, the objective of the author is to share the experience with other Engineering Educators. Therefore, the emphasis is mainly on the nature and the scope of the projects and the effectiveness of the program. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Comput Appl Eng Educ 8: 196–200, 2000
