Abstract
- By introducing improved curvilinear structure detector (ICSD), this paper proposed an approach for local road extraction from synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. First, the ICSD is used to extract the centerlines and direction of local roads. Second, ICSD is employed to extract edges in SAR images, since the edges of SAR image appear as curvilinear structures in its edge strength map (ESM). Then, the local roads are obtained by mutual verification between centerlines and edges due to the large amount of interference. Finally, the missing edge pixels are extracted. The experimental results are shown to demonstrate the correctness of the theoretical analysis and the effectiveness of the proposed method.
